Devenish Pitt Barn Conversions
We’re thrilled to announce the addition of our stunning barn conversion at the bottom of our stable yard, complementing our existing ‘Stable Cottage.’
These new accommodations offer breathtaking views across the picturesque Devon valley, providing an idyllic retreat for our guests.

In August 2023, we finally broke ground on a project that has been a long time in the making!
August 2023
Emptying the loft!
Steven and Jodie rolled up their sleeves and got to work, beginning by clearing out the stable loft. It was quite the task, as the loft had accumulated over 60 years' worth of old storage.

Goodbye mobile home
The mobile home, which had hosted many of Devenish Pitt's guests over the past 11 years, was moved out. While it was sad to see it go, we were excited about the new and exciting plans we had for the space it once occupied.

Removing the old outdoor toilet
The old outdoor toilet, which had been completely overtaken by nature, was uncovered and carefully demolished. The bricks from the structure were salvaged and later reused in the build, preserving a piece of the past within our new development.

The scaffolding goes up
Scaffolding was erected around the outside of the building, signaling the next phase of the project as we prepared for some of the walls to come down and be rebuilt.

New toys!
We brought in plenty of new machinery to dig up the new driveway around the front of the building, preparing the area for our guests to park their cars in the soon-to-be completed car park.

Down come the walls
The walls on the yard side, as well as the walls separating each stable, were taken down as we prepared to dig further into the ground. This demolition marked a significant step forward in transforming the space for our exciting new project.

Admiring the views from the roof
The views from the top of the scaffolding on the roof were absolutely mesmerising, giving us a glimpse of what our future guests will enjoy. Seeing this breathtaking panorama made us even more excited about the experiences we’ll soon be able to offer.

Wall structure goes up
As the structure of the replacement walls went up, we began to get a true sense of the space inside each unit, including the placement of windows and doors. Seeing the layout take shape gave us a clearer vision of how the finished units would feel.

Final layout decisions
Alison and Steven made the final layout decisions just before the internal walls were built, ensuring that every detail of the design was perfectly tailored to meet our vision and the needs of our future guests.

Roof goes up
With the roof rebuilt, we turned our attention to preparing for the tiles to be added. This next step is crucial as we work towards completing the exterior and bringing our vision for the new units to life.

The tiles are back on
The tiles from the original building were carefully reused and reinstalled to preserve the traditional character of the structure. This thoughtful touch ensures that the new development maintains its historical charm while blending seamlessly with the updated features.

In goes the concrete
Concrete was pumped into the building to create a solid flooring, setting the stage for the next stages of construction and ensuring a durable and stable foundation for the interiors.
